Terms & Conditions

By applying to become and being a member of My Expanded Circle I agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions and I understand that My Expanded Circle's acceptance of my application shall create a legally binding contract between me and My Expanded Circle.

1. Although My Expanded Circle uses all reasonable endeavours to ensure that introductions to members fall within the category of persons specified by them on their application form it will not accept responsibility if, through no fault of its own, any such person introduced to you does not fall within such category nor will it accept any responsibility for any occurrence as a consequence of any meeting with or relationship formed with any such person as a result of such introduction.
2. All information supplied to My Expanded Circle by you will be treated in the strictest of confidence and is subject to the Data Protection Act as described in the Data Protection Notice, below. By becoming a My Expanded Circle member and agreeing to these Terms and Conditions you consent to the provisions of the Data Protection Notice.
3. All members warrant the accuracy of all information supplied by them to My Expanded Circle and My Expanded Circle accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any inaccuracies howsoever arising. You hereby warrant that you do not know of any medical, criminal or physical reason why you should not form a conventional relationship with people unless such impediment has been declared to My Expanded Circle in advance. The right to accept or refuse membership to anyone is at the sole discretion of My Expanded Circle.
4. You confirm that you are over eighteen years old and that the contents of your Profile are true and accurate in all respects and that you have never been convicted of a serious criminal offence. You understand that if any serious or deliberately misleading inaccuracies should come to light, My Expanded Circle reserves the right to expel you and refer the details of such inaccuracies to the Introduction Services Federation, in order to protect its associated companies' members or to take civil or criminal action against you.
5. You hereby agree that you will not use the My Expanded Circle service to make or attempt to make any statement which is obscene, racist, inappropriate, offensive or otherwise illegal through your personal statement or within the messaging service. You may not attempt to make any reference or allusion to any sexually explicit acts, parts of the body with sexual overtones or to look for possible partners under the age of 18. Members may not use profanity within the My Expanded Circle service or use the My Expanded Circle service to libel, slander or defame another person. My Expanded Circle reserves the right to expel any member found committing such an act.
6. You acknowledge that your profile, photograph and contact details may be accessed by members and non-members worldwide via a number of media including, but not limited to, hardcopy profiles that are sent out, audio recordings, mobile devices, interactive Digital TV and the My Expanded Circle website and the websites of My Expanded Circle's associated companies.
7. My Expanded Circle reserves the right to withdraw membership from any person at its sole discretion and in that event the unexpired portion of the membership fee will be held by My Expanded Circle. Save as aforesaid no refunds will be made unless otherwise provided for by My Expanded Circle in its brochures or other promotional literature.
8. No payment or refund will be given to you for any downtime in the My Expanded Circle service or for your inability to access the service due to technical problems beyond My Expanded Circle's control.
9. Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulation Act (2000), you are entitled to a seven-day cooling off period. During this time you have the right to cancel your contract without penalty. However, the cooling off period and the right to cancel does not apply if you begin to use the My Expanded Circle service before the end of the cooling off period. Therefore, if you use our services immediately by accessing our database, you will not be able to cancel the contract. Refunds are subject to a £20.00 administration fee.
10. Using this site to promote or recommend other websites, social groups, clubs or group/organisation that may be deemed as competition without prior approval from My Expanded Circle will be deemed breech of contract and could result in claims for consequential loss.

My Expanded Circle may from time to time update these Terms and Conditions and any revisions will appear on this page.

DATA PROTECTION NOTICE

Any personal information you register with My Expanded Circle will be used for the purpose of matching you with other members and for sending you details (by post, e-mail, telephone, fax, SMS or any other appropriate technology) of those matching members. My Expanded Circle will also send such of your details to any member who requests your details. Your profile (including your photograph if supplied) and your user or first name, your age and the town or county in which you live will be visible to world-wide users of the website and perhaps to users of interactive Digital TV, or through any media which My Expanded Circle deems appropriate. Please note that we shall not disclose your contact details to any non-member unless you explicitly allow it. By completing the registration form, you consent to our processing personal data including, but not limited to, your location, marital status, ethnicity, smoking and drinking habit, religious and political affiliation, personality, hobbies, interests and attitudes. You also consent to your photograph being placed on the My Expanded Circle site. You also consent to our transferring your data to group companies, members, other third parties or to countries which do not provide for the same level of data protection as the UK if necessary for the above purposes.

On registering with My Expanded Circle online, you will create a password. All My Expanded Circle members must take careful note of their password and are responsible for keeping this password safe and solely for their own use. This password allows you to access and change the information My Expanded Circle holds about you and to request that those details are not distributed. Please make sure that your details are correct and up-to-date to help My Expanded Circle provide you with the best service. My Expanded Circle takes all reasonable measures to protect your personal information and to prevent unauthorised access to it, including making all My Expanded Circle staff aware of their obligations as data processors. Any contracts between ourselves and group companies or third parties relating to the processing of your data include clauses requiring that they guarantee your data the same level of technical and organisational security that they offer their own data.

Should your membership expire, My Expanded Circle shall maintain your data for a reasonable period for administrative purposes and the purposes indicated in this Data Protection Notice, after which time it will be deleted.

EVENTS AND PAYMENTS FOR EVENTS

1. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that prices for Events shown on the Company's site are accurate. If an application to take part has been accepted and an error is found the Company will inform you as soon as possible and offer you the option of reconfirming your application for the Event at the correct price or cancelling your application for that Event. If you cancel because of such error the Company will refund or re-credit you for any sum that has been paid by you except where the terms and conditions of the Supplier say otherwise.
2. Payment for any Event may be made by transfer from your Bank Account or by payment or debit card. Payment shall be made in GB Pounds sterling. No payment for any Event shall be deemed to have been received until the Company has received cleared funds. If payments are made by cheque drawn on a UK branch of a UK bank 6 working days shall be allowed for clearance from the day the cheque is received by the Company or such longer period as shall be required by the Company's bankers.
3. The Company shall not be responsible or liable in any way whatsoever for the cancellation of an Event other than as provided by this clause and clause. Where cancellation arises and is the fault of the supplier of an Event the terms and conditions of that supplier shall apply. The Company will use reasonable endeavours to recover payment of the monies paid by the member for the Event but shall not be obliged to commence legal proceedings.
4. The Company gives no warranty that the provider of an Event will accept your booking or application or that such provider will not cancel or vary the Event. If an Event requires a minimum number of participants and that number has not been accepted by the deadline date set out on the Site the Company or the Supplier may cancel the Event and liability shall be limited to the return of the sum paid by you.
5. Some variations to the published times or arrangements for an Event may be made by us or the Supplier. They may be no right to cancel or obtain a refund for the changes such as timing or the precise nature of equipment used, or programme or content. Some Events are dependant on weather or other factors outside the control of the Company or the Supplier and no right to cancellation or refund exists in these circumstances unless the Terms and Conditions of the Supplier says otherwise.
6. Should you wish to cancel your participation in an Event after placing a booking you must notify the Company in writing by hand post fax or e-mail at the address fax number or e-mail address then shown on the Site. Only if the Event is fully subscribed and another member applies to participate in such Event and takes the canceling member's place shall the Company refund the price paid by the canceling member but not otherwise.
7. At all times you shall conduct yourself in your relations with other Members or their guests or the General Public or Third Parties in a responsible and careful manner. Members failing to behave correctly may be expelled, suspended or prevented from continuing with an event. Suppliers or other event organisers can refuse admission if in their opinion you may be a risk to others or yourself or you are affecting the enjoyment of others or the running of the event whether through drink, drugs or otherwise.
8. When participating in an Event which requires you to provide clothing equipment tools or appliances you or your guest must supply what is required suitable for use and shall cause no damage nuisance or annoyance to any other member or third party. The Company shall not be responsible for the care maintenance or repair of such clothing equipment tools or appliances.
9. You must ensure that you are physically fit and capable of taking part in any Event for which you subscribe and in applying to take part in such Event you warrant to the Company that you are physically suited to take part in such Event and will remain so throughout the Event.
10. In applying to take part in an Event you acknowledge that the terms and conditions of the Supplier shall apply to the Event and it is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the terms and conditions of the Supplier and the rules regulations and safety policy governing the Event. If relevant equipment is supplied by the Supplier the Company shall not be liable for defects in or shortages of such equipment or parts thereof. You will at all times use equipment (whether supplied by you or other members or the Supplier) in accordance with the guidance and advice given by the relevant equipment supplier or the Supplier. You shall have no claim against the Company for any failure by the Supplier to supply adequate equipment instruction information or advice or to ensure that the Event is suitably organised managed or controlled
11. Unless otherwise stated it is your responsibility to arrange travel to the Event and where applicable to comply with any passport, visa or inoculation requirements.
12. If tickets or vouchers are issued by the Supplier, it is the Supplier's responsibility to despatch them. If tickets or vouchers are required and you do not have them 4 days before the Event, email the Company and the Company will investigate. If the event is booked at a time when it would be impractical to despatch tickets, arrangements will be made for them to be collected at the event.
13. The right to participate in an event is not transferable.
14. You must provide proof of membership (e.g. membership card) at Events when requested to do so. Failure to do so may lead to inability to participate in an Event.
15. You shall make all payments due under the Contract in full without any deduction whether by way of set-off, counterclaim, discount, abatement or otherwise.
16. Participation in all Events is at your risk or is governed by the Suppliers' Terms & Conditions. Because of the risk attached to some events you may be required to sign a form of disclaimer of liability as a condition of taking part. When refusal to do so prevents your participation in the Event the Company shall have no liability to provide compensation.
