Why was www.myexpandedcircle.com set up?
I have lived in London for nearly 10 years and I am amazed at how difficult it can be sometime to meet people in London.  Both work and home life are very transient and it can often be difficult to stay in touch with people as we all move around. Also when I first moved to London I had some interests that I stopped doing simply because I didn’t know anyone with the same interests.
 
What is the idea of www.myexpandedcircle.com?
The idea is simple. Members of my expanded circle can chose to come along to any of the events we have set up. More importantly the members can post their own events so you can quickly find people with similar interests.

I'm nervous about turning up to my first event?
Aren't we all? I used to turn up to the events with a bunch of balloons and believe me I was very nervous for the first few events. All I can suggest is that you take a deep breath and turn up you'll soon settle in and get to know lots more people. Also you can use the site to email other people who are coming along to events. This makes it all a bit less daunting. You could also look out for frequent members who seem to make a lot of posts in the forums etc. and email them through the site.

How do I set up my own event?
To post your own event, simply go to the events section and click on "add a new event" this will take you to an on-line form that you fill out with the details of an event. It could be anything from a favorite pub or club, to a restaurant, or from wine tasting to white water rafting. The details then come through to us for checking and are usually approved within 48 hours.

Should I give people my mobile number?
This is entirely up to you, whilst we do our best to protect our members we can't make guarantees so if you're not sure then don't. What you might like to do is get a free roaming number from somehere like go-call telecoms they will issue a free number.

How do I cancel an event I’ve booked on to?
If you go to the events section and then click on “my events” you will see the list of events you have chosen to go on there will be a “cancel” option next to the event, just click on that to remove your name.
 
Why do you charge?
I had to spend a lot of money to set up and advertise my expanded circle. I also run a number of free events myself. Ideally I just want to try and earn a living out of making peoples lives better. If I start to make more money than I need I will simply spend it on more free events.

How do I pay for the events?
Where the events are not set up to pay through the site you will have to pay on the day. Where possible there will be an outline of costs in the description. For meals it is up to the member to keep track of their own bill with regard to food and drink.

How will I find the group?
Every member of my expanded circle has a pin badge and wristband, you might want to look out for these. Also prior to most events who ever is organizing the event will normally send a specific email and often there will be a mobile number sent at the same time. It also makes it easier for people to recognize you if you upload a photo to the site.

Why don’t many people contact me through the site?
If you don’t have much detail on your profile then people are less likely to contact you or respond to your emails. Basically the more detail you put up the more likely it is that people will find you of interest. Also a picture normally helps.

What events are most popular?
There are a number of things that people seem to like, but in particular it seems to be walks, pub crawls & meals out. If there’s something you want to try then why not post it up today – nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Why can't I access the site with the right username and password?
To use our site you need to have your cookies enabled. Once you've turned on your cookies you should be able to access the site.
